A parent with minor children should have three basic documents in place:

• Power of Attorney (this allows a person to make medical decisions for you if you are unable)
• Health Care Directive (this allows a person to make medical decisions for you in you are unable)
• Will naming Guardians for your children should both parents pass away or if a surviving parent is unable or unfit to continue parenting.
